badge for the Major Sam Hayes Post 477 in Pittsfield, Illinois. Ribbon is
strong with no separations, silver text very good with no wear or flaking.

GAR MEMORIAM BADGE - PERU, MAINE - Beautiful and large (3" X 10")
Memoriam Badge for the Demeritt Post 147 in Peru, Maine has dull silver
pinbar, silver text and braid tossles with an applied US flag. Badge is in near
perfect condition with exception of one braid tossle hanging by a thread
(literally).

GAR GRAND REVIEW BADGE - This badge (2 1/2" x 5") was for the
participation of the Grand Review at the 1902 Washington D.C.  National
Encampment held on October 6 - 11, 1902. The celluloid pinbar shows this
was a New York participant. The celluloid disc below pictures the Capitol
Building (the disc has the same image on both sides). Badge is in very
good condition with exception of several spotty areas on the celluloid.

G.A.R. MEMORIAM RIBBON - Nice G.A.R. memoriam ribbon for Post
No. 10 in Cambridge, Vermont. It is the normal black ribbon with an
applied U.S. flag and a silver metal pinbar. Absolutely beautiful and in
extremely good condition.

GAR PHOTO OF NATIONAL OFFICER - Large photo in a folder
frame (7 5/8" x 9 1/4") of a G.A.R. National Officer wearing his
badges - the membership badge has a light colored (gold or buff)
bordered flag holding the star. The photographer's name and the
date of 1913 is on the image but unfortunately no city or state.
Rarely do you come across photos showing these badges. Very
good condition.

16TH CONNECTICUT INFANTRY - Reunion ribbon showing the 9th Army
Corps Badge. The 16th participated in the battles of  Antietam,
Fredericksburg, edenton Road, Nansamond, Siege of Suffolk, Plymouth.
Ribbon is in very good condition.

GAR BADGE - 1914 REUNION DETROIT, MICH. - Souvenir badge for the
48th National Encampment held in Detroit, Mich. August 31 to September
5, 1914. Appears to be missing a backdrop ribbon. I have had many of these
and don't recall having one with a ribbon. Wear showing on high relief
areas, otherwise still a good looking badge. Photo shows all. No makers
marking on reverse.

UNION VETERANS UNION BADGE - A veteran's organization formed after
the GAR and was at it's peak in the 1880's - 1890's. Any gilt on metal parts
is now a chocolate brown and the ribbon has a few issues just below the
pinbar.

- Rarely does the opportunity come about to obtain these
badges. They are large and heavy. Very precious few were produced for
the organizing committees of the National Encampments. This particular
badge is for the Printing Committee of the 1902 Washington DC reunion.
Condition is good but ribbon is a bit faded and lightly soiled. Have four of
these from different committees to offer on this page.

24th reunion of the 15th New York Cavalry held in Syracuse, NY on August
9-10, 1911. The 15th was active in the Virginia and Maryland regions and
was at Appomattox for the surrender of Lee. Attractive ribbon is in VGC
with a few stains and has pin holes from being worn.

28TH NEW YORK INFANTRY -  Approx. 6" x 13 1/4" heavy paper
GAR 1893 reunion insert for the 28th New York Infantry. This is an
insert that came with the 1893 reunion invitation and is in good
condition with some age toning as can be seen in the photos. It also
shows the battle flag of the 28th with the battle honors. The 28th
fought in the battles of Winchester, Cedar Mountain, Groveton, 2nd
Bull Run, Antietam and Chancellorsville.

12th CONNECTICUT INFANTRY -  GAR reunion ribbon for the 12th
Connecticut Infantry held in Middletown, Ct. on October 20, 1890. Ribbon is
in good condition but does have some staining on bottom as can be seen in
photos. Battle honors are also on the ribbon. The 12th fought in the battles of
Georgia Landing, La., Pattersonville, La., Bisland, La., Port Hudson, La.,
Winchester, Va., Fisher's Hill, Va. and Cedar Creek, Va.

ORIGINAL 1868 GENERAL ORDERS FOR MEMORIAL DAY  -  5
3/8" X 8 3/8" General Orders Sheet dated May 5, 1868 from General
John A. Logan - Commander of the GAR designating the 30th of
May as a day of remembrance and for it to be continued on a yearly
basis. Paper has a bit of age toning on the left side, otherwise in very
good condition. Great piece of memorabilia for the very first
Memorial Day.

16TH MICHIGAN INFANTRY 1913 GETTYSBURG
REUNION WATCH & GROUPING
- Watch of Horace Eldred
of the 16th Michigan Infantry, hand painted on the dial face
commemorating the 1913 reunion at Gettysburg and nicely
done. The watch is a large, gold filled Hampden Watch Co.
piece made in 1883 (by the serial number) and unfortunately
needs attention mechanically as it does not run. Grouping also
has a post-War photo of Eldred showing him wearing a GAR
lapel pin, his marriage certificate, newspaper article and his
life history typed on onion skin paper and done while he was
still alive as the history speaks of him in the present text.
Condition on all pieces is as shown - the paperwork not in
great shape. Eldred was mustered in the 16th on August 24,
1861 and discharged May 8, 1864 due to wounds received in
action at Rappahannock Station.

GAR - 97TH PENNSYLVANIA INFANTRY - REUNION PROGRAM -
1912
- Program (approx. 4 3/4" x 7 3/4" - one sheet folded for four
pages) for the 29th Annual Reunion held on Saturday, October 26, 1912
- Place not listed. Program has folds but is in very good condition and
shows the battle torn flag of the regiment on the front..

NEW PARIS, OHIO - GAR POST DINNER TICKET -
1889
- GAR Dinner ticket for the benefit of the Caleb
Marker Post No. 646 in New Paris, Ohio. Ticket is
number 120 and also includes the detached stub. On the
back of the ticket there are a number of raffle items that
include gold watched, a silver tea set and a horse, buggy
& harness (like giving a car away these days). Ticket is in
very good condition.

AMBROTYPE - NAVY ENGINEER - 1/6 plate ambrotype in case with
patriotic mat. His hat insignia has the 1861 newly adopted cross of laurel
designating an Engineer. Image has gilt on insignia, hat band and
buttons, has a dark contrast and case has a repaired hinge.

FIRST DAY COVERS - FINAL REUNION OF THE UNITED CONFEDERATE
VETERANS
-  3 First day covers for the 1951 Norfolk, Virginia Final
Encampment of the United Confederate Veterans. All three covers are
postmarked the same - May 30, 1951 Norfolk, Va.9:00am. All of course have
the 3 cent UCV stamp. All in good condition.

FIRST DAY COVERS - FINAL REUNION OF THE GRAND ARMY OF THE
REPUBLIC
-  2 First day covers for the 1949 Indianapolis, Indiana Final
Encampment of the Grand Army of the Republic. Both covers are postmarked
the same - August 29, 1949 Indianapolis, In. 9:00am. All of course have the 3
cent GAR stamp. Both in good condition.

1891 GAR NATIONAL ENCAMPMENT DELEGATE BADGE - DETROIT -  
Delegate badge for the 25th National Encampment held in Detroit, Michigan
in 1891. The book on the GAR badges states that there were 1,013 delegates
for this encampment. The ribbon has a few frayed spots, mainly on the right
edge and several tarnished spots mainly on the reverse. Guessing these could
probably be cleaned up a bit if so desired. Michigan pin bar has the T-bar pin
and also has a few darker areas - mainly the M & N of Michigan - all of
which can be seen in the additional images.

1896 REUNION RECEPTION COMMITTEE RIBBON -  Unfortunately there
is no location of this reunion shown but judging by the names on the badge it
was an important reunion. It reads: Reception / Committee / Gens. / Alger /
Sickles / Howard / Stewart / Marden / Corp. Tanner / Oct. 20, 1896. Ribbon is
in very good condition.

August 11, 1898 20th Reunion of the  Soldiers and Sailors of Lorain County
